Long admired for its high standards of living, Switzerland has been a model for many other countries to emulate.
But sustaining the high standards of living will require the Swiss to boost economic growth, restore flagging productivity growth and manage the challenges of an ageing population, said the OECD.
Growth in the Alpine country has been weak, while income levels have remained at about the same levels before the financial crisis in 2008.
Switzerland’s struggles show that developed countries all around the world grapple with challenges such as changing population demographics, weak productivity and slow economic growth. Singapore too is pushing ahead with efforts to boost productivity through its Industry Transformation Maps.
